1) Can you tell us a little about your wedding celebrant services? How did you get started in the wedding industry?

I wanted to be a celebrant back in the days when you just couldn’t become one. So I waited, things changed, training programs became available, and I was registered in 2007. I am now an experienced, professional celebrant, I think I have the best job in the world and I offer a quality service. My couples can have as much or as little input to their ceremony as they desire. As well as weddings I also love to do Renewal of Vows ceremonies because it’s so wonderful to be a part of a day when two people, who may have been married for many years & shared many experiences, choose to re-affirm their heartfelt commitment to each other. I think that’s just lovely.

2) From your experience, what type of couples search for your services? Who is your ideal/typical client?

I have had enquiries from many different types of people from all walks of life, from many different countries and all ages. They all want the same thing – someone who will take care of their needs & treat them with respect. Each one of them is another colorful thread in the tapestry of life and I am continually enriched by knowing them.

3) How many weddings have you done? How many do you do a year?

I don’t know that the number of weddings is so important – however, I have done sufficient and what is important is that I have learned something from each one that I have done. Of course I would be happy to have a few more, but people are already booking me for 2013 so things are looking healthy.

4) What do you do best and enjoy most about being a wedding celebrant?

I have a great imagination & I can usually dream up something wonderful if couples have the need to be different, or I can listen to their “story” and invent something to make their ceremony uniquely theirs but still keep it simple.
I love weddings (who doesn’t) and I just love being a part of this wonderful day knowing that I have played an integral part in making it a magical experience for two lovely people.

5) Why do couples choose you over other celebrants? What do you think makes you stand out? In other words, what do couples get with you that they might not get with others?

I don’t know about other celebrants, all I can say is that I devote myself to my couples, I have a genuine interest in them & their wedding & making sure that their ceremony is perfect for them.

6) Can you describe a normal wedding day in your life as a wedding celebrant?

I always try to be organized in advance, so I double check all the paperwork & the ceremony then pack all the necessary items in my bag the night before the wedding. On the morning of the wedding day I will press and pack my table cloths & chairs covers so that they are as fresh & neat as possible. I try & have a relaxing day until it’s time to leave for the wedding venue & allow sufficient time to travel safely arriving half an hour before we are due to begin.

7) Can you share your top tips to find the ideal wedding celebrant? What do couples need to look for?

Basically, couples should probably aim to choose a celebrant that they can genuinely like and communicate well with, someone who listens to them, will help them if they need help, is competent & conducts themselves in a professional manner – ooh, that sounds just like me!
Also, it is wise not to make price the main reason for choosing someone as this can sometimes lead to disappointment and no-one should be disappointed on their wedding day.

8.) What are your top 3 questions couples should ask prior to choose their celebrant?

Well, all couples are different, so I guess their questions may differ slightly, but 3 important questions would be, are you available on the day chosen & prepared to travel to the venue, Can you accommodate our personal choices into the ceremony, and can you stay and enjoy a glass of champagne with us to celebrate our marriage. (That was intended to be humorous!)

9) Trivial question… favorite wedding location?

So many beautiful places in Canberra, I don’t know whether it’s possible to have one favorite, but I do like the Senate Courtyard, Nara Gardens, numerous spots in Weston Park, the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, Lake Ginninnderra – the list goes on. I have also performed weddings in some lovely home gardens & country properties. We are certainly spoiled for choice.

10) Please share one last message to our site visitors. Make them an invitation to visit your company/website, and please indicate 3 AMAZING (yep REALLY AMAZING) reasons to choose you for their wedding day.

Oh dear, I hate that word “amazing” – so overused it has kind of lost it’s “amazingness”.
I can only tell you that I take great pride in my work, I really do care about my couples & their families & it is my utmost priority to ensure that their marriage is legal and that every detail is attended to. My aim is to create a beautiful ceremony that is meaningful for them using words that they are comfortable in saying – or as I like to put it, “real weddings for real people”.

My website is www.lovellyweddings.com.au and I invite you to contact me if you would like to talk about your wedding plans. You can also phone me on 0432 545 911.
